My name is Andre. Growing up I lived with my mother, my siblings, and different men who were with my mother. My mother would leave us alone in the house. My mother and her boyfriends dedicated their lives to drinking alcohol. Nobody worried about me. Nobody worried about my siblings. We did not receive any type of support from our parents, and for these reasons we did not receive an education.
Every day I was forced to watch a man mistreat my mother. There were many times where I defended my mother. Each time my mom told us children that we just have to get stronger and continue forward. However, I followed the bad steps of my parents. At 11 years old, I became an alcoholic. I also smoked. I had learned to do all of these things from my parents and my older siblings. Sometimes they brought me to parties to get drunk with the other kids. In my innocence, I didn’t know I was doing anything bad; I thought that everything was completely normal. I had only ever known drug addicts and alcoholics in my life.
My life changed when I arrived at an orphanage. I came to know Jesus there. I learned about what Jesus had done for me on the cross. I came to love the Lord so much. I asked forgiveness for all that I had done in the past. In the beginning, it was very difficult for me to admit my wrong doings. With time I came to the realization that Jesus used the “bad” things in my life to bring me to these new “good” things in my life. God removed me from my home in order to do amazing things in my life.
I am no longer able to continue my education in the orphanage I live in currently. However, God continues to demonstrate that he loves me and that he wants the best for me. I know this because God has opened a door recently; this door is called Kings and Queens International. They want to support me and make it possible for me to complete my goals and dreams. I want to become a professional. I also want to be able to help others achieve their goals and lead them to Christ. I want to give and share the same love God has given to me to others. This is very important to me. God is Love.
